LOINC code77615-3
nameLiver stiffness by US.transient elastography
descriptionLiver stiffness is measured in a non-invasive manner by vibration-controlled transient elastography (VCTE). VCTE uses an ultrasound transducer mounted on the axis of a mechanical vibrator. The vibrator induces a 50 Hz shear wave through the liver and ultrasounds are used to track the propagation of the shear wave and measure its speed of propagation into the liver. The speed is converted into stiffness using Hooke's law. Stiffness measurements are expressed in kPa. Clinical interpretation of liver stiffness values should always be in the hands of an expert clinician and should be made with full knowledge of patient demographics, disease etiology and essential laboratory parameters.

componentLiver stiffness
propertyPres  =  Pressure
timePt  =  Point in time:  To identify measures at a point in time. This is a synonym for “spot” or “random” as applied to urine measurements.
systemAbdomen>Liver
scaleQn  =  Quantitative:  The result of the test is a numeric value that relates to a continuous numeric scale. Reported either as an integer, a ratio, a real number, or a range. The test result value may optionally contain a relational operator from the set {<=, <, >, >=}. Valid values for a quantitative test are of the form "7", "-7", "7.4", "-7.4", "7.8912", "0.125", "<10", "<10.15", ">12000", 1-10, 1:256

Associated Observations

LOINC codes that represent optional associated observation(s) for a clinical observation or laboratory test. A LOINC term may represent a single associated observation or panel containing several associated observations.
