The score ranges from 0 to 1 and is calculated based on four lab tests (GGT, bilirubin, alpha-2-macroglobulin, and hyaluronic acid) plus the patient's age and gender. The HepaScore is reported with a central cut-off of 0.50, with a value ≥ 0.50 indicating that significant liver fibrosis is present (positive predictive value 88%) and a value < 0.50 indicating that advanced fibrosis is absent (negative predictive value 95%) for patients with hepatitis C infection.
