name | Chromosome region 13q14 deletion in Bone marrow by FISH
description | Deletions at 13q14 can be detected by FISH and used for the diagnosis of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), multiple myeloma, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) as well as other forms of cancer. Labs will report the number of cells that have the probe deletion out of total number of cells examined (e.g. 80 out of 100 cells, or 80%). Results are typically reported in ISCN (International System for Human Cytogenetic Nomenclature) format [LOINC: 62356-1]. This term is based, but not limited in use to, the Vysis LSI 13 (13q14) probe, which targets the RB1 gene and flanking regions.
