LOINC Code

LOINC code82354-2
nameHuman papilloma virus 16 and 18+45 E6+E7 mRNA [Identifier] in Cervix by NAA with probe detection
descriptionDetects E6/E7 viral messenger RNA (mRNA) of human papillomavirus (HPV) types 16, 18, and 45 in cervical specimens from women with positive HPV assay results. For women 21-years and older with atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASC-US) cervical cytology results, and HPV positive assay results, this assay can be used to assess the presence or absence of high-risk HPV genotypes 16, 18, and/or 45. For women 30-years and older, the HPV 16, 18, and/or 45 genotype assay can be used to test samples from women with HPV assay positive results, along with cervical cytology results. This assay has not been evaluated for HPV vaccinated patients or in cases of suspected abuse. It differentiates HPV 16 from HPV 18 and/or HPV 45, but does not differentiate HPV 18 and HPV 45. This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the Aptima HPV 16 18/45 genotype assay which uses target capture, target amplification by transcription-mediated amplification and detection of the amplification products by hybridization protection assay (HPA).

Fully-Specified Name

componentHuman papilloma virus 16 & 18+45 E6+E7 mRNA
propertyPrid  =  Presence or identity:  Prid stands for “Presence or identity”, is used for assays that detect whether or not an analyte of a particular kind is present, and if it is, to identify the specific analyte.
timePt  =  Point in time:  To identify measures at a point in time. This is a synonym for “spot” or “random” as applied to urine measurements.
systemCvx  =  Cervix
scaleNom  =  Nominal:  Nominal or categorical responses that do not have a natural ordering. (e.g., names of bacteria, reported as answers, categories of appearance that do not have a natural ordering, such as, yellow, clear, bloody.
