name | Gram negative blood culture panel by Probe in Positive blood culture
description | Identification of gram-negative (GN) bacterial targets and genetic markers of antibiotic resistance directly from positive blood cultures by oligonucleotide probe detection of sequence of interest. Direct detection (non-PCR) based methods do not involve DNA amplification and therefore avoid amplification of contaminants. This panel was created for, but not limited in use to, Nanosphere's Verigene Gram-Negative Blood Culture test (BC-GN), which uses microarray analysis with probe to identify gram-negative bacteria, including Acinetobacter sp, Citrobacter sp, Enterobacter sp, Proteus sp, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Klebsiella oxytoca, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, as well as the six antibiotic resistance gene markers: CTX-M, KPC, NDM, VIM, IMP, OXA.
