descriptionThe Keele STarT Back Screening Tool distress subscore is the sum of items 5 through 9. If a patient's total score [LOINC: 91351-7] is greater than or equal to 4, then the distress subscore differentiates between medium risk (subscore of 3 or less) and high risk (subscore of 4 or more) of developing long-term back pain. The distress subscore is also referred to as the "psych score" in Keele documentation.
