name | Social support index [MOS Social Support Survey]
description | Medical Outcomes Study (MOS) Social Support Survey consists of four separate social support subscales and an overall functional social support index (this term), which is calculated based on the subscales and additional item scores by averaging the individual scores for all 19 items. Note that the overall support index calculation does not use the individual subscale scores. Scores can be transformed to a 0-100 scale using the following formula: 100 X [(observed score - minimum possible score)/(maximum possible score - minimum possible score)]. A higher score for an individual scale or for the overall support index indicates more support is available. [RAND: mos/social-support/scoring]
