descriptionAbnormal platelet aggregation results typically are due to a medication effect (eg, aspirin or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug use) and less commonly reflect an acquired or congenital platelet disorder. If present, acquired conditions include dysproteinemias, myeloproliferative diseases, and renal failure. Congenital conditions include Glanzmann thrombasthenia, Bernard-Soulier syndrome, Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome, storage pool disease, and Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome.
