LOINC Code

LOINC code95056-8
nameCatecholamines supine and standing panel - Plasma
descriptionThe goal of the postural panels is to find out if the adrenal gland is sensing the posture change and secreting increased levels of catecholamines appropriately during the transition from supine to standing. This can help to diagnose syndromes of inherited and acquired autonomic dysfunction or autonomic neuropathies which may show insufficient release of catecholamines. On the other end of the spectrum are pheochromocytomas and various neuroectodermal tumors which exhibit unregulated release of one or more catecholamines.
