Somatotropin post macimorelin stimulation panel - Serum by Immunoassay   95851-2

LOINC Code

LOINC code95851-2
nameSomatotropin post macimorelin stimulation panel - Serum by Immunoassay
descriptionThe macimorelin stimulation test is used to diagnose adult growth hormone (GH) deficiency. Macimorelin is a synthetic agonist of the ghrelin receptor that, when administered orally, stimulates growth hormone release from the pituitary in a dose-dependent manner, achieving maximum blood levels within 1 hour [PMID:23559086]. Serum GH concentrations falling below a set threshold during the timed assay following macimorelin administration confirms the presence of GH deficiency.
