nameDaratumumab [Presence] in Serum by Immunofixation
descriptionDaratumumab is a monoclonal antibody used to treat multiple myeloma, which is, itself, a disease that results in antibody overproduction, shown as M protein band in immunoelectrophoresis. Daratumumab, the treatment, can show up as part of the M spike and interfere with the assay for the M-protein in multiple myeloma. An antibody against Daratumumab can be added to the assay, which shifts the Daratumumab band, allowing the Daratumumab band to be distinguished from the M-protein band and reported separately.
