CMS Testing Dates Released - Don't be left behind!

CMS is promoting three National ICD-10 testing Awareness Weeks.  Be sure to get involved early, as they have posted a ONE-TIME notice!  If you are not ready I suggest you get moving. 

To begin with you need to have access to ICD-10 codes, If you don't already have an account with Find-A-Code, Start there!   Find-A-Code gives you the information you need to succeed as well as all the crosswalks you need for ICD-10.

More about testing with CMS, some important information and a few things to expect:

  • Claims with the ICD-10 will be submitted with current dates of service.
  • Testing NPI Validation Edits.
  • EDI front end edits
  • Test claims will receive the 277CA or 999 acknowledgement as appropriate to confirm the claim was accepted or rejected.
  • It will not confirm payment or produce a remittance advice.

Contractors shall promote, implement, and support three National Testing Weeks for ICD-10 Acknowledgement Testing on:

  • November 17 -21, 2014
  • March 2 -6, 2015
  • June 1 -5, 2015

A/B MAC contractors shall complete an excel spreadsheet, and email it to the ICD-10 Mailbox (ICD-10ImplementationPlanning@cms.hhs.gov) by 2PM EST the next business day for each testing day.

 For example,

The spreadsheet for Monday, November 17, 2014 data is due Tuesday, November 18, 2014 by 2PM. The spreadsheet for Friday is due the following Monday. CEDI shall use the spreadsheet they developed for the March 2014 Testing.

You will receive notification of the article release via the established "MLN Matters" listserv. Contractors shall post this article, or a direct link to this article, on their Web sites and include information about it in a listserv message within one week of the availability of the provider education article. In addition, the provider education article shall be included in the contractor’s next regularly scheduled bulletin. Contractors are free to supplement MLN Matters articles with localized information that would benefit their provider community in billing and administering the Medicare program correctly.
