PQRI Deadline Nears
CMS is now accepting suggestions for 2012 performance measures for the Physicians Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI). However, time is running out. All suggestions must be received by 5:00 p.m. EST December 17, 2010.
The PQRI program was established to promote provider quality standards of care. This reporting system includes an incentive payment for eligible professionals (EPs) who satisfactorily report data on quality measures fulfilled throughout the year. Each year there are modifications to the list of approved quality measures. Documenting that the applicable practices were followed consistently throughout the year qualifies the doctor or group practice to receive a bonus of up to 2% of the Medicare billings from that practice or office.
At this time, four measures are applicable to chiropractic, although for 2011 there are new codes dealing with Electronic Medical Records which may apply as well. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is currently accepting quality measure suggestions for consideration for possible inclusion in the proposed set of quality measures for use in the 2012 Physician Quality Reporting System. Please go to the Measures Management System website at http://www.cms.gov/MMS to access the "Call for Measures" section page for further information and directions to the required form. share
