The laboratory performs a familial hypercholesterolemia panel on peripheral blood/serum and the panel tests for genes APOB, LDLR, LDLRAP1, and PCSK9 for a total of four genes. Because there is no current genomic sequencing panel code for this panel and the LDLR gene is responsible for greater than 50% of pathogenic variants causing familial hypercholesterolemia, may code 81406 be reported for this test?
