name | PEDV prototype and S INDEL strain S gene panel - Specimen by NAA with probe detection
description | This panel contains the quantitative cross threshold (Ct) values for the detection of nucleic acids within the spike (S) gene specific to the prototype and S INDEL strains of the Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV). This assay is performed on various specimens, including fresh tissues (intestine), fluids (feces, intestinal content, oral fluid), fecal swabs, and other miscellaneous specimens (environmental, feed, feed pre-mix). This term was created for, but not limited in use to, the submitter's PEDV S gene differential PCR, which targets the highly conserved regions of the PEDV S gene in order to differentiate between the two strains of PEDV know to be circulating in North America: the original US strain (US PEDV prototype) and the variant US strain (S INDEL variant).
