2015 Guidelines, Diagnosis Pregnancy and AntepartumApril 16, 2015
Services provided to diagnose pregnancy are to be reported separately, and not considered a part of antepartum care given to the patient. Be sure to report the E/M visits separately as of the 2015 revised guidelines. The services normally provided in uncomplicated maternity cases include antepartum care, delivery, as well as postpartum care. For a preventative visit or problem orientated be sure to report using the appropriate E/M service codes. 99201, 99202, 99203, 99204, 99205, 99211, 99212, 99213, 99214, 99215, 99241, 99242, 99243,99244, 99245, 99281, 99282, 99283, 99284, 99285, 99384, 99385, 99386, 99394, 99395, 99396 The new guidelines also state antepartum includes the initial prenatal history and exam as well as subsequent prenatal history and physical exams.
